San Antonino Passageway

   This is the type of view that confronts you everyday when in San Antonino. The mountain peaks are jagged, with terraces cut into the mountain sides for grazing and farming; clouds are almost ever-present. You can go from seeing 10 kilometers across a mountain valley to seeing only 50 feet into the passing clouds in the span of a few minutes and back again. This photo was taken in 2001 in one of the back alleys of San Antonino. The contrast from the detail within the dark shadow of the passageway to the brightly lit village and mountainsides beyond is at the limit of the capability of the human eye to see.
